Thrills and Spills: Crashes and Drama in the First Practice Sessions of Formula 1 Qatar Airways Azerbaijan Grand Prix 2024

The first practice sessions at the Formula 1 Qatar Airways Azerbaijan Grand Prix 2024 were marked by thrilling moments and several crashes. Red Bull's Max Verstappen led the session with a time of 1:45.546, while Ferrari's Charles Leclerc and Williams' Franco Colapinto both experienced crashes that forced them to retire early.

The slippery conditions on the Baku circuit posed significant challenges for the drivers. The session was halted three times with red flags, as Leclerc lost control and crashed into the barriers at Turn 15, followed by Colapinto who suffered a similar fate at Turn 4. Despite these incidents, Verstappen showcased superior driving skills, finishing the day on top.

Mercedes' Lewis Hamilton followed closely behind with a time of 1:45.859, while Red Bull's Sergio Perez took third place, and McLaren's Lando Norris secured fourth. With more sessions ahead, fierce competition is expected on the Baku track, promising fans an exciting race weekend. The next practice session is set to begin at 17:00.
